(May 9, 2019) More than 2,000 local students attended the Opioid Awareness Youth Summit, hosted by DEA and CADCA (the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America), and held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood earlier this month. The invite-only summit's goal was to educate young people about the dangers of prescription opioid, heroin and fentanyl misuse.
The event was emceed by Good Day LA’s Sandra Endo and guest speakers included LA Sparks head coach Derek Fisher, Dr. Drew Pinsky, TV personality Jack Osbourne, and many more.
“When you bring this many young people together and you’re able to put in front of them some very inspiring people that engage them, you can really start building up that momentum to address this issue of opioids within southern California, and all other substances that are harming our youth,” CADCA’s Youth Leadership Manager Robert Alvarez said.
