(San Francisco Examiner, Dec. 16) A new study by the National Cancer Institute found that in San Francisco alone, 96 percent of young people who smoke cigarettes have used at least two or more other substances. The substances ranged from alcohol to hard substances. The teens smoked five or fewer cigarettes a day, meaning even those who smoke occasionally are likely to be trying other drugs. Sixteen percent of those polled had taken hard substances such as cocaine, mushrooms, or prescription medications. READ MORE.
