2 Rehab Employees Found Dead from Drug Overdose

(NBC News, May 25) Two employees of a Pennsylvania drug rehab facility, who lived and worked at a halfway house for recovering addicts, were found passed out in their rooms after overdosing on heroin and fentanyl.

The two men (ages 24 and 33) were found Sunday by residents, who then administered the anti-overdose drug Narcan to one of the overdosed employees but was not able to revive him. Used needles and heroin baggies were found scattered around their rooms.

“The staff members in charge of supervising recovering addicts succumbed to their own addiction and died of opioid overdoses,” Pennsylvania’s Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said in a statement, where he also called the tragedy a “frightening example” of the state’s extensive opioid epidemic.

Hogan also warned others to stay away from drug baggies with the Superman or Danger logo since “they appear to be heroin laced with fentanyl and are likely to kill anybody who uses them.” Read more.
