Combating Counterfeit Fentanyl Pills With a Virtual Assembly

(KTSM 9 NEWS) Nearly 70 percent of all drug poisonings and overdose deaths in 2023 involved counterfeit opioids, primarily fentanyl. To combat this statistic, a 60-minute interactive and virtual school assembly for students will be held in April nationwide.
Editor's Note: As of January 2026, 29% of counterfeit pills tested at DEA laboratories contain a deadly dose of fentanyl.
